Welcome to AP US Government and Politics.  This is a year-long, college-level course that will culminate with the College Board's AP Exam.  The course of study takes students through an intensive overview of the structure and workings of the US government system. There are no pre-requisites for the course, and the College Board encourages "willing and academically prepared students the opporutnity to participate in AP".  (AP Equity and Access Statement) That being understood, the class is taught with the expectations of a college course and should be treated as such by the students enrolled.  By the course's end, students will have a deep understanding of the Constitution and be able to interpret and apply those learnings to public policy and the workings of government that effect our daily lives.  The class will analyze current events and attempt to make sense of the highly political environment in which they are occurring.
